Crane Transport Brisbane
Cranes are among the most demanding oversize loads on Brisbane's roads. A crawler crane is heavy, wide and over-height; a friction crane can carry a counterweight that needs its own trailer; and a large all-terrain mobile crane may travel as a long, heavy combination that still needs a permit for mass or length. We plan crane transport around the crane's configuration, the counterweight split and the route — including the swept path through SEQ roundabouts and the bridge ratings on the route.
Cranes we move
Crawler cranes (small lattice-boom through large lifting cranes), friction cranes, draglines, and the counterweight, boom and rigging loads that travel separately. We also move mobile cranes that exceed standard mass or dimension limits on certain routes.
Trailer and load split
Crawler cranes typically travel on a low loader or platform float depending on weight; the counterweight and boom sections often move on a separate low loader or extendable deck. We plan the whole convoy — prime mover, trailers and any pilot — as one coordinated move so the crane arrives with its rigging.
Permits, escorts and route survey
Cranes are almost always oversize and frequently OSOM. Expect NHVR access permits, a route survey for swept path at tight intersections, and a multi-pilot plan — sometimes a police escort for the largest crawler moves. Bridge and pavement ratings on the Gateway, Ipswich and Logan Motorways are checked before we commit a route.
SEQ considerations
Crane moves serve the Port of Brisbane (wharf crane lifts), the Brisbane CBD and inner suburbs (tower crane base sections and mobile crane relocations), and the Yatala–Logan industrial belt. We book around port and CBD restrictions and avoid peak-hour and event-period windows.
Get it quoted
Send the crane type, configuration, counterweight split and the pickup-to-delivery route. We'll plan the convoy, the permits and the pilot escort and give you an indicative rate.
