Excavator Transport Brisbane
Moving an excavator in Brisbane is rarely just a matter of booking a truck. Tracked machines need a low loader with a detachable gooseneck so they can be loaded without a ramp, over-height booms can push past 4.3 metres and trigger a permit, and a 50-tonne excavator on the wrong trailer will overload the axles before it leaves the yard. We plan excavator transport across Brisbane and South East Queensland around the machine, the route and the permit — not a one-size-fits-all trailer.
What we move
From 6-tonne mini excavators to 50-tonne+ mass excavators, plus long-reach machines, demolition excavators and tracked piling rigs. Tracked machines load best onto a detachable-gooseneck low loader; wheeled excavators can sometimes travel short distances under their own power but still need a trailer for over-dimensional moves or long SEQ distances.
The right trailer
Most excavators move on a low loader. Mini and mid-size machines suit a 2-axle low loader; 30-tonne and above usually need a 3-axle or a low loader with a jinker to stay within axle mass limits. Over-height machines — long-reach and high-boom excavators — may need a route check against bridge clearances on the Gateway and Ipswich Motorways.
Permits and escorts
Width over 2.5m, height over 4.3m, or a heavy rear overhang all trigger a permit. A 3.0–3.5m wide excavator typically needs a permit and may need one pilot; beyond 3.5m the escort requirements step up. We handle NHVR access permits and the pilot plan as part of the move.
SEQ considerations
Excavator moves concentrate around Acacia Ridge and Richlands (plant yards), the Port of Brisbane (imported machines), and outbound to Ipswich, Yatala and Toowoomba for civil and mining work. We avoid school-zone hours and the Gateway peak, and we confirm site access — many civil sites need a machine delivered outside working hours or with a specific entry.
